Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" must be one of the most adapted stories of all-time, and wouldn't you know it, but there's another take of the classic tale on the way. THR has reported that BEAUTY AND THE BEAST director Bill Condon is set to reteam with Disney for a musical reimagining of "A Christmas Carol" which will feature music written by Stephen Schwartz, best known for his work on POCAHONTAS, THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME, THE PRINCE OF EGYPT, and Wicked.

Now, I know what you're thinking. Haven't we recently heard about a musical reimagining of "A Christmas Carol"? Well, you'd be right. Apple recently picked up a musical take on the story which is set to star Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell, but this new project will be a different beast. The Bill Condon film goes by the title of MARLEY and is set to be told through the eyes of Jacob Marley, Ebenezer Scrooge's deceased business partner who appears to him on Christmas Eve to warn him of the impending visit of several spirits. Condon has already completed work on the script, so we'll likely be hearing more about this project before too long. Even after all these years, my absolute favourite adaptation of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" is SCROOGE, the 1951 film starring Alastair Sim in the title role. What about you? Which "A Christmas Carol" adaptation is your favourite?

Bill Condon's next film is THE GOOD LIAR, a thriller which stars Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren which is slated to hit theaters on November 15, 2019.
