Ootini! Pedro Pascal reveals his character’s name on The Mandalorian

With Disney+ launching this past Tuesday, probably the most anticipated thing about the new streaming platform was the first ever STAR WARS live-action TV show The Mandalorian. Game of Thrones vet Pedro Pascal (TRIPLE FRONTIER) takes on the titular role, although thus far we've yet to see his face. One of the mysteries surrounding the character is his actual name. Despite multiple reports to the contrary, people have continued to speculate that Pascal's character is actually Boba Fett, who supposedly died in RETURN OF THE JEDI. Well you all can now put those Boba Fett rumors to rest as Pascal himself revealed the name in a press interview. Check it out:

Yep. It appears as if the Mandalorian's real name is Dinn J'Aren, although the spelling may not be 100% accurate. Based on previous reports this news makes perfect sense. Jon Favreau and company have stated repeatedly that Pascal's character was not Boba Fett and now we have confirmation. As evidenced by ATTACK OF THE CLONES, Boba Fett was never in fact a real Mandalorian as he was a clone of his father Jango Fett. Jango Fett himself was also not a true Mandalorian, he just wore a set of Mandalorian armor. It makes zero sense then to refer to Pascal's character as a Mandalorian unless, you know, he's an ACTUAL Mandalorian.

Personally, I'm glad Pedro Pascal's character isn't Boba Fett. Lately the franchise relies too much on nostalgia and I'd rather see brand new stories with brand new characters than the same old same old. Although, the question of the Mandalorian's name has now been cleared up, The Mandalorian certainly has plenty of mysteries and surprises still in store for audiences, including a major one that happened at the end of the first episode.
