In this day of social distancing and self-quarantine, even your favorite movie characters know it is not a good idea to head to the Winchester. Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, stars of Edgar Wright's classic romantic zombie comedy SHAUN OF THE DEAD, have kicked off a new YouTube channel and their first video is a 2020 update to the famous plan scene from their 2004 movie.
Odds are likely that most of you know about getting Liz, having a cup of tea, and waiting for the whole thing to blow over. But, pubs and social interaction are a big no no as the world tries to survive the COVID-19 pandemic. Like so many other stars have been doing, Pegg and Frost decided to use social media as a platform to entertain the millions of us stuck at home with dwindling toilet paper. Their video reinforces the norms of surviving this non-zombifying plague by staying home and not spreading the respiratory disease.
"If you can, stay at home, have a cup of tea, and wait for all of this to blow over," Pegg instructs Frost during the hilarious yet informative phone call. Pegg then adds, "Above all, don't be a twat about things. We're all in this together. Don't be selfish, look after each other, give someone a call if you think they might be lonely." After doling out some sound advice for survival, Pegg asks Frost if he's okay, to which Frost confesses, "I'm running out of toilet paper," thereby inciting an all-too-real horror that many of us can relate to. That said, don't be a twat if and when you find some on the shelves. Only take one. After all, everyone's got an ass that needs wiping, and we're all in this together.
Stay safe everybody.
