Troy Baker and Nolan North are two of the biggest names in voice acting for video games having lent their voices to The Last of Us & Uncharted, to name a few. With Hollywood adapting The Last of Us for HBO & UNCHARTED for the big screen, who else better to give their opinion on those projects than the guys who helped bring the main protagonists' of those games to life.
The duo can be seen in a YouTube video posted on the Retro Replay page where they're playing Resident Evil 2 and just shooting the sh*t. You're basically just watching two friends playing video games and sharing stories but at about the 6 minute mark they first talk about Last of Us being made for HBO. Nolan North thinks it's best that The Last of Us is being made into a series on HBO rather than a movie and he's really behind Chernobyl's Craig Mazin being on board as a creative force.
North appears to be more excited about a The Last of Us series rather than an UNCHARTED movie, the seemingly cursed video game adaptation from Sony that has seen delays that equal THE NEW MUTANTS' status. Tom Holland takes the lead as a young Nathan Drake while Mark Wahlberg has been cast as his mentor Sully, a casting choice North isn't on board with. North explains that he "loves" Mark Wahlberg but he just doesn't see him as Sully.
Baker chimes in a bit more as The Last of Us and he believes the success of bringing that to HBO is the episodic nature and it's clear from Craig Mazin's pitch that he's a fan of the game and he's invested and he praises him as a writer and creator. As we know, some video game adaptations fall flat so it's interesting to hear their take on this. You can view the YouTube video below and head to the 6 minute mark to hear that chat:
Troy Baker voices the character of Joel in The Last of Us as well as Booker DeWitt in Bioshock Infinite, the Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins, Higgs in Death Stranding & Sam Drake in Uncharted 4: A Thief's End and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy. Nolan North is just as accomplished, voicing Nathan Drake in the Uncharted series, Desmond Miles in the Assassin's Creed series, The Penguin in the Batman: Arkham series & Marvel's Deadpool in various media.
