Marvel has been busy developing a handful of shows for the Disney+ streaming service, some of which had already begun production before the COVID-19 pandemic forced them to halt, but there are many others which haven't yet gone in front of the camera, including a series revolving around Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner).

Per THR, Marvel has tapped a trio of directors to help bring Clint Barton to the small-screen. Amber Finlayson and Katie Ellwood, best known for TROOP ZERO, as well as Rhys Thomas, director of STATEN ISLAND SUMMER and JOHN MULANEY & THE SACK LUNCH BUNCH, have each been tapped to direct a block of episodes of the upcoming six-episode series. Jonathan Igla, who served as a writer and executive story editor on AMC's critically-acclaimed drama Mad Men, is writing and executive producing the Hawkeye series.

Jeremy Renner will be returning as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, but the series is also expected to introduce audiences to Kate Bishop, a young woman who will be trained by Barton to take on the mantle of Hawkeye. "What I get to do in the show ultimately is shepherd an amazing character, ultimately a better version of me and the sentiment of that is the fiber of what Hawkeye is, at least what I think Hawkeye is — a superhero without superpowers and I get to teach someone else to be a superhero without super powers," said Renner at San Diego Comic-Con last year. Hailee Steinfeld (Dickinson) has previously been in negotiations to take on the role of Kate Bishop, but it's still unclear if her deal has closed. In addition to Hawkeye, Marvel is working on several other Marvel Cinematic Universe TV shows in various stages of production which are destined for Disney+, including The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, What If…?, Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk.
