Meet Rami Malek’s Safin in a new villain highlight video for No Time to Die

The James Bond 007 YouTube channel on Monday uploaded a new video that highlights Rami Malek as the newest James Bond villain, Safin. Everyone knows that the British Secret Service agent has faced a number of formidable foes in the past, but in Safin, Bond will find the limits of his capabilities pushed to their very edge as his newest nemesis plots to wipe millions of innocent people off the face of the Earth.

“What I really wanted from Safin was to make him unsettling, thinking of himself as being heroic,” says Malek in the video. “Safin is a formidable adversary. James Bond has to adapt to that.”

As detailed by the video, Safin's primary goal is to "make the world a better place." However, the method to his madness involves the slaughter on many, a goal that Bond cannot allow him to achieve by any measure.

“What he wants and what he’s willing to do makes him a very frightening character both personally to Bond but also on a global level,” says director Cary Joji Fukunaga.

Cold, calculated, and shattered inside as well as out, Safin will stop at nothing to make Bond and his compatriots suffer for standing in the way of his best-laid plans. If the price they pay is death, so be it, because the world must be cleansed, along with its heroes.

In NO TIME TO DIE, Bond has left active service and is enjoying a tranquil life in Jamaica. His peace is short-lived when his old friend Felix Leiter from the CIA turns up asking for help. The mission to rescue a kidnapped scientist turns out to be far more treacherous than expected, leading Bond onto the trail of a mysterious villain armed with dangerous new technology.

Directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga from a screenplay penned by Neal Purvis & Robert Wade, and Cary Joji Fukunaga and Phoebe Waller-Bridge, NO TIME TO DIE stars Daniel Craig, Rami Malek, Léa Seydoux, Lashana Lynch, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris, with Jeffrey Wright, with Christoph Waltz and Ralph Fiennes as "M." Rory Kinnear, Ana de Armas, Dali Benssalah, David Dencik, and Billy Magnussen also star.

NO TIME TO DIE will blast into theaters on November 20, 2020
