Sienna Miller got a pay boost on 21 Bridges courtesy of Chadwick Boseman

In the time since Chadwick Boseman's passing on August 28, many have shared inspiring stories related to the late and legendary actor. Hence, the latest feel-good yarn about Mr. Boseman comes from his 21 BRIDGES co-star Sienna Miller, who says the Marvel alum took a cut of his own salary and gave it to her after she "asked for a number that the studio wouldn't get to." Miller said as much while speaking with Empire, in addition to revealing that as a producer on the film, Boseman was a major reason as to why she got to play the part of Frankie Burns in the 2019 cop thriller.

While speaking with Empire, Miller was reluctant to share her story about Boseman's involvement in her time on 21 BRIDGES, but ultimately the actress decided that telling the tale would serve as "a testament to who he was."

“This was a pretty big-budget film, and I know that everybody understands about the pay disparity in Hollywood, but I asked for a number that the studio wouldn't get to," Miller explained. "And because I was hesitant to go back to work and my daughter was starting school and it was an inconvenient time, I said, ‘I’ll do it if I'm compensated in the right way.’ And Chadwick ended up donating some of his salary to get me to the number that I had asked for. He said that that was what I deserved to be paid.”

Miller also went on to say that like a true professional and gentleman, Boseman told her without "showiness" that she would earn what she was worth. A grateful Miller then said that Boseman's gesture was "about the most astounding thing that I've experienced," before clarifying "that kind of thing just doesn't happen."

"It's just unfathomable to imagine another man in that town behaving that graciously or respectfully," Miller said. "In the aftermath of this I've told other male actor friends of mine that story and they all go very very quiet and go home and probably have to sit and think about things for a while."

As Miller continued to open up about her time while working alongside Boseman, she spoke about how the BLACK PANTHER star insisted that she go after the 21 BRIDGES role. "He was a fan of my work, which was thrilling, because it was reciprocated from me to him, tenfold. So he approached me to do it, he offered me this film, and it was at a time when I really didn't want to work anymore. I'd been working non-stop and I was exhausted, but then I wanted to work with him," said Miller.

Originally, the part of Frankie Burns was written as a male. However, the film's director, Brian Kirk, was open to making some changes that would ultimately make for a better story. When Boseman began lobbying for Miller to appear in the film, changes were made in favor of a better viewing experience for all involved.

I'll tell you. The more I learn about Chadwick Boseman the more I miss him. Some of our best people are taken far too soon and I wish that cancer had a face so I could punch it. I've no doubt that more amazing stories about Mr. Boseman's generosity will come to light throughout the years and I welcome each and every one of them. Rest in power, good sir. You've earned it.
