While everyone is looking forward to the end of 2020, it's fans of the CW who should be very excited about this coming January, which is when the network plans to launch several of their upcoming seasons for new and returning shows. The CW today unveiled season premiere dates for 11 returning series, including Batwoman, The Flash as well as three brand-new ones, including Walker, Superman & Lois, and Trickster.
Everything kicks off on January 8, with the season premieres of Whose Line Is It Anyway? and Penn & Teller: Fool Us. Then there's the Season 3 premiere of Two Sentence Horror Stories on Tuesday, January 12. This is to be followed by the U.S. premiere of Trickster, a Canadian import starring Joel Oulette as an Indigenous teen struggling to keep his dysfunctional family above water, while holding down an after-school job and selling ecstasy to support his partying mom, Maggie (Crystle Lightning), who self-medicates an undiagnosed mental illness, and his unemployable dad, Phil (Craig Lauzon) and his new girlfriend. But when Jared starts seeing strange things — talking ravens, doppelgängers, skin monsters— his already chaotic life is turned upside down. Additional cast includes Kalani Queypo (Jamestown), Anna Lambe (The Grizzlies), Joel Thomas Hynes (Little Dog), Gail Maurice (Cardinal), and Georgina Lightning (Blackstone).
Then, the moment that many have been waiting for. On Sunday, January 17, Javicia Leslie will make her debut as Ryan Wilder for the sophomore season of Batwoman. Also on the board for that evening is the Season 3 premiere of Charmed.
The CW's All American will return for its third season on Monday, January 18, while the fourth season of Black Lightning is set to strike on Monday, February 8. Meanwhile, the fifth season of Riverdale will arrive on Wednesday, January 20, followed shortly thereafter by the sophomore season premiere of Nancy Drew.
Supernatural fans might want to mark their calendars for the date of Thursday, January 21, which is when the rebooted Walker, starring Jared Padalecki as the classic character played by Chuck Norris moseys onto the CW network. The anticipated premiere of Walker will be followed by the Season 3 return of Legacies.
