Brutal Halloween Kills footage has been unveiled at BlumFest

Halloween has come a bit early for fans of Michael Myers as Blumhouse has revealed new footage for its upcoming Halloween sequel, Halloween Kills. The footage was unleashed today during the studio's first-ever BlumFest event.

"Next Halloween, when the sun sets and someone is alone, he kills," Laurie (Jamie Lee Curtis) can be heard saying in the new footage as Michael procures his iconic mask from a quiet Haddonfield street. Shortly thereafter, we're shown a series of quick shots that include several of the film's returning characters, and of course, a bit of the old ultra-violence, courtesy of the silent killer himself.

When talking about the upcoming sequel, Halloween Kills director and co-writer David Gordon Green said, "The way we look at it is that our 2018 film was just the setup. So, with Halloween kills it's twice the thrills, it's 10 times the kills, it's ghosts from the past and skeletons in the closet, and all the allure of Halloween amplified. So I'm really excited. I look at it like it's our Empire Strikes Back."

Returning for the highly-anticipated sequel is original Scream Queen, Jamie Lee Curtis, as Laurie Strode, with Judy Greer starring as Laurie's daughter Karen and  Andi Matichak as her granddaughter Allyson. Newcomers to the sequel include Anthony Michael Hall, who will assume the role of Tommy Doyle – the young boy Laurie was babysitting in John Carpenter's original 1978 slasher classic. Additionally, the little girl that Laurie was also babysitting, Lindsey Wallace, will also appear in the new film. She'll be played once again by Kyle Richards.

Halloween Kills was supposed to be unleashed in theaters this October, but even Michael Myers is no match for theaters closings amid the COVID-19 crisis. Now, the film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on October 15, 2021, giving Blumhouse ample time to drip-feed us treats from the upcoming film.
