The Walking Dead: Hilarie Burton to play Negan’s wife Lucille

AMC's The Walking Dead has announced that Jeffrey Dean Morgan's wife, actress Hilarie Burton, will guest-star as Negan's wife Lucille in a newly added bonus episode for Season 10. Burton tweeted about her surprise role on Tuesday, saying that it's been challenging to keep the part under wraps.

In The Walking Dead comics from writer Robert Kirkman and artist Tony Moore, Lucille was stricken with cancer before the zombie apocalypse began. Negan, being the bastard that he is, was having an affair, which Lucille had been well aware of. In time, Negan left his side piece to spend time with Lucille while she fought against her condition. Sadly, or perhaps for the best, Lucille passed as the viral outbreak began to rage. Later, when Negan set out to survive the apocalypse, he named his baseball bat, wrapped with barb wire, after his late wife, Lucille.

Burton is set to guest-star in one of six episodes recently added to The Walking Dead's tenth season. Aside from her upcoming role on The Walking Dead, Burton previously starred as Peyton Scott on the television drama series One Tree Hill. She's also appeared in other programs like White Collar, Hostages, Extant, Lethal Weapon, and Council of Dads, just to name a few. Most recently, she co-hosts AMC's Friday Night in With the Morgans, alongside her husband, Jeffrey, which focuses on conversations about how people are getting through the pandemic and life in quarantine.
