Last Man Standing, Home Improvement, Tim Allen, crossover

Here's a crossover you probably didn't see coming: Tim "The Tool Man" Taylor will be back for the first time in over twenty years as the Home Improvement character is slated to appear in the final season of Last Man Standing. That's right, you're about to get two Tim Allen's for the price of one. Insert your own random grunts here.

The Last Man Standing episode will find the Baxter family seeing double when "Vanessa hires a home improvement repairman who bears an uncannily resemblance to Mike, who is struggling with an idea for his Outdoor Man 10th Anniversary vlog." You can check out a brief promo for the final season below.

Home Improvement aired for eight seasons on ABC from 1991 to 1998, and although it was never a #1 show, it was still one of the biggest sitcoms of the decade and made a star out of Tim Allen. Last Man Standing began airing on ABC in 2011 before it was cancelled after six seasons, but Fox came to the rescue and renewed the series for a ninth and final season earlier this year. In the era of TV revivals and reboots, Tim Allen has previously stated that he'd love to bring Home Improvement back. "I like the idea of doing it as a one-off, like a one-hour movie [versus a full-fledged revival series]," Allen told CinemaBlend earlier this year. "I like the idea of finding out where the boys are now, and where… Tool Time would be in today's world. I just think it's a marvelous idea, and all the actors think it's a great idea."

The final season of Last Man Standing will debut on Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 8:30, before shifting to Thursdays at 9:30 on January 7, 2021.
