Nicolas Cage hosting Netflix comedy series History of Swear Words

Nicolas Cage is set to continue his streak of interesting career choices. The actor has been tapped to host the unscripted comedy series History Of Swear Words for Netflix.

The Oscar-winning actor will dive into the origins of curses in the show that comes from Funny or Die and B17 Entertainment. Each installment will examine the usage, origins, and cultural impact of specific curse words such as "f*ck", "sh*t", "b*tch", "d*ck", "p*ssy", and "damn." The 20-minute episodes will also feature various celebrity guests and those already on deck include Joel Kim Booster, DeRay Davis, Open Mike Eagle, Nikki Glaser, Patti Harrison, London Hughes, Jim Jeffries, Zainab Johnson, Nick Offerman, Sarah Silverman, Baron Vaughn, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.

To ensure authenticity, experts will also be featured that include cognitive scientist and author of "What The F" Benjamin Bergen, linguist Anne Charity Hudley, Professor of Feminist Studies Mireille Miller-Young, film critic Elvis Mitchell, author of "Holy Sh*t: A Brief History of Swearing" Melissa Mohr, and author of "Word By Word" Kory Stamper. Bellamie Blackstone is on board as showrunner of the series while Mike Farah, Joe Farrell, and Beth Belew will executive produce for Funny or Die and Brien Meagher and Rhett Bachner will represent for B17 Entertainment.

This is the third streaming project that Nicolas Cage has been attached to in recent months. The actor has two dramas on deck at Amazon with one having him play Tiger King subject Joe Exotic while the other, Hellfire, is based on a novel by Eion Colfer and will find him voicing the lead character of a dragon that lives in the Louisiana swamp.
