Nickelodeon's iCarly is making a comeback! A new iteration of the series, with original stars Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor, and Nathan Kress on board to return, is headed to the upcoming Paramount+ SVOD service.
The new version will be produced by Nickelodeon Studios and additionally, producers Jay Kogen and Ali Schouten, have signed on to the develop series. The duo will also serve as executive producers and showrunners. One key component not returning is iCarly creator Dan Schneider. Nickelodeon cut off ties with the prolific creator back in 2018 after an investigation into complaints about alleged misconduct.
iCarly originally ran from 2007-2012 and starred Cosgrove, Trainor, Kress, and Jennette McCurdy. The show followed a group of friends creating a webcast while dealing with everyday problems and adventures that come along with being a young adult. The internet web show they develop soon becomes a phenomenon and they have to begin to balance their normal teenage lives with the newfound fame that has come upon them. iCarly was a huge pop culture phenomenon for Nickelodeon and regularly broke viewership records. The most-watched episode of the show, "iSaved Your Life, which premiered on January 18, 2010, was watched by 11.2 million viewers and is the second-most-viewed telecast in Nickelodeon history.
Paramount+ is set to become the rebranded version of the CBS All Access streaming service. The move will take place in early 2021 as part of the service's expansion to feature content from the ViacomCBS library of broadcast, news, sports, and entertainment brands. Paramount+ will also be available in international markets with an initial debut in Australia, Latin America, and the Nordics in 2021.
