Actress Lucy Boynton can currently be seen on the big screen in the latest version of MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS, but I’m more interested in a different film she recently worked on, director Gareth Evans’ upcoming revenge thriller APOSTLE.
Coming to the Netflix streaming service sometime in 2018, APOSTLE tells the following story:
The year is 1905. Thomas Richardson travels to a remote island to rescue his sister after she’s kidnapped by a mysterious religious cult demanding a ransom for her safe return. It soon becomes clear that the cult will regret the day it baited this man, as he digs deeper and deeper into the secrets and lies upon which the commune is built.
Why am I so interested in APOSTLE? Because Evans is the director who gifted the world with THE RAID, and the film stars Dan Stevens, THE GUEST himself.
During a recent interview conducted by Collider’s Steve Weintraub, Boynton shared some details on her part in APOSTLE, saying the movie is
…slightly more story-heavy than the RAID films, because it’s about a cult and a guy goes to rescue his sister from the cult. I play the cult leader’s daughter, who slowly starts to realize the darkness of all that her father’s cult entails. Which is fun, and bloody. But yeah, there are some really great action sequences that I think RAID fans will be pleased with.”
This sounds great to me. I can’t wait to check it out, so I’m hoping Netflix will be revealing the release date soon.
Boynton and Stevens were joined in the cast by Michael Sheen, Mark Lewis Jones, Bill Milner, Kristine Froseth, and Paul Higgins.
