After making his triumphant return to broadcast movie hosting with three marathons that streamed on the Shudder service last year, Joe Bob Briggs is now set to get his own weekly show on Shudder, with the first episode scheduled to premiere on Friday, March 29th.
Joe Bob had previously said that he would be hosting weekly double features on Shudder and the show will be
exactly like my old format on my old show Monstervision, which was almost always a double feature, and we're gonna interrupt the movie (for Joe Bob's hosting segments), like we do."
That holds true in the announcement for his new series, The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs. An announcement trailer, in which Joe Bob promises his new show will be kicking much ass, can be seen below.
A press release sent out by Shudder reveals that the first season of The Last Drive-In is set to run for nine weeks and will
consist of weekly double features streaming live every Friday night at 9:00 p.m ET/ 6:00 p.m. PT, beginning March 29 and concluding on Friday, May 24, Memorial Day Weekend. Episodes will also be made available on demand at a later time.
Joe Bob adds that
…the double features we chose for the weekly series range over five decades and include everything from classics to obscurities to foreign cult offerings, with a handful of guests who have agreed to play around with us in our Texas trailer park. I don’t want to say we got carried away with the possibilities here, but we kind of got carried away with the possibilities here."
This will be Joe Bob's first weekly show since Monstervision came to an end in 2000. It's been way too long, and it's great to have him back.
