I thought the 2012 Blumhouse production SINISTER was a great horror film, and I was hyped to check out SINISTER 2 when it was released a few years later. When I did, I was surprised to see how much of a step down it was from its predecessor. I still enjoyed the movie, but the story of Mr. Boogie / Bughuul had lost steam faster than I had expected.
During a recent Twitter Q&A, producer Jason Blum confirmed that SINISTER 3 is not in the cards for his company. When asked "Is SINISTER 3 a possibility?", he replied "Nope". With a frowny face.
Nope. 🙁

However, there is still a chance that Bughuul may return. When another fan commented that they "need to see Bughuul on the big screen again", Blum replied "I was thinking small screen. Maybe."
I was thinking small screen Maybe.

So there could be some kind of Bughuul-related TV show in our future, if Blum decides to pursue that idea.
Blum has previously mentioned that his company almost did a crossover between their SINISTER and INSIDIOUS franchises. I would definitely check out a movie that had Lin Shaye's INSIDIOUS character investigating Bughuul. That's the idea Blum should pursue before taking SINISTER to TV!
Whether it's a project for the big or small screen, we'll let you know if there's any sort of movement in the world of SINISTER.
