Kong director and Michael B. Jordan team up for new monster movie

KONG: SKULL ISLAND director Jordan Vogt-Roberts had planned to feature his hometown of Detroit in that film, a fact which had cast member J.K. Simmons quite excited, since he is also from the Detroit area… But as it turns out, KONG: SKULL ISLAND didn't film in Detroit, and Simmons had to drop out of the project before it went into production.

Vogt-Roberts is now looking to make up for Detroit missing out on the KONG action, teaming with CREED / BLACK PANTHER's Michael B. Jordan on a new creature feature.

Details are being kept under wraps, this project doesn't even have a title at this point, but we do know that Vogt-Roberts came up with the idea and will be producing and directing the film. Jordan will also be producing, alongside Alana Mayo, through their company Outlier Society.

The story is set in 

Detroit. Vogt-Roberts maintains deep ties to the Motor City, repeatedly bringing production to it any way he can, and also co-founded the improv group The Detroit Creativity Project to help the city’s young people.

The project is set up at New Regency and is now searching for a screenwriter.

I really enjoyed KONG: SKULL ISLAND, so I'd be glad to watch another monster movie directed by Vogt-Roberts. Maybe he can get J.K. Simmons in this one.
