SPOILER Warning: The trailers for the upcoming PET SEMATARY remake have spoiled the fact that the new film switches up a certain story element we're familiar with from the first PET SEMATARY and the Stephen King novel it was based on… But if you haven't been spoiled by the marketing materials yet, you should skip the rest of this article and definitely shouldn't watch the clip embedded below.

If you don't mind that spoiler, here it is: little boy Gage is not the member of the Creed family who dies in the remake (or at least, he doesn't die first), it's Gage's older sister Ellie. That takes their father down the familiar path of resurrecting his child by burying her in the cursed ground beyond the titular pet cemetery. The clip below is from a point in the film after all of that has happened, when we see a family reunion between members of the Creed family and their lost loved one.

Directed by STARRY EYES' Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer from a screenplay by HALLOWEEN H20's Matt Greenberg and THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN's Jeff Buhler, the new PET SEMATARY stars Jason Clarke, Amy Seimetz, Hugo Lavoie, Lucas Lavoie, Jeté Laurence, Obssa Ahmed, Alyssa Brooke Levine, and John Lithgow. The story follows

Dr. Louis Creed (Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.

In this clip, we have a creepy, crazy Louis watching as a terrified, heartbroken Rachel is hugged by an undead Ellie (Laurence). It's a twisted moment, and Seimetz plays it extremely well.

The new PET SEMATARY arrives in theatres on April 5th.
