Stephen King praises Pet Sematary remake: “It’s F*cking great!”

Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer's upcoming remake of Stephen King's PET SEMATARY hits a theater near you next Friday. And today we have word that the master of horror himself has viewed the new version of his scariest novel and he thought it as "Fucking great!"

Specifically, Stephen King said this about the PET SEMATARY remake:

It’s f–king great. It’s a really good movie. It’s a grown-up, adult kind of movie. It’s not like twelve semi-clad teens get killed in a summer camp. It’s something different. They did a good job. 

And while we're here, King talked about the remake changing Gage's death to Ellie's:

It didn’t change anything for me. I thought, ‘Okay, I understand why they did it, because it’s maybe easier to work with a zombie when she’s a little girl than a toddler.’

I don't know about you but damn all the other reviews out there telling us that this remake is solid as hell. Just hearing King himself praise the movie is enough for me to be even more excited for the film. If that were even possible. The fact that he think's it's "fucking great!" is just icing on the cake. 

Directed by Kolsch and Widmyer, PET SEMATARY stars Jason Clarke as Louis Creed, Amy Seimetz as Rachel Creed, Hugo and Lucas Lavoie as Gage Creed, Jeté Laurence as Ellie Creed, Obssa Ahmed as Victor Pascow, Alyssa Brooke Levine as Zelda, and John Lithgow as Jud. 

Based on the seminal horror novel by Stephen King, Pet Sematary follows Dr. Louis Creed (Jason Clarke), who, after relocating with his wife Rachel (Amy Seimetz) and their two young children from Boston to rural Maine, discovers a mysterious burial ground hidden deep in the woods near the family’s new home. When tragedy strikes, Louis turns to his unusual neighbor, Jud Crandall (John Lithgow), setting off a perilous chain reaction that unleashes an unfathomable evil with horrific consequences.

King wrote the screenplay adaptation for the '89 film himself. This time the script was written by Jeff Buhler, who previously wrote the Clive Barker adaptation THE MIDNIGHT MEAT TRAIN, developed the George R.R. Martin story Nightflyers into a television series, and wrote a remake of JACOB'S LADDER that has yet to be released.
