Child's Play

This June we'll be seeing a whole new interpretation of iconic killer doll Chucky when director Lars Klevberg's remake of the 1988 classic CHILD'S PLAY reaches theatres. The filmmakers and marketing team working on the remake have been holding off on giving us a good, full look at the new Chucky up to this point, but the cat is out of the bag now.

Mark Hamill, who is providing the voice of Chucky in the new film, took to his Twitter account to share the first official full look at remake Chucky. It's certainly not a complete re-design, they have stuck to the basics of the original Chucky, but it is different enough that it's clearly not the Chucky we know from previous films.

The screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith shares the same concept as the original film, centering on

a mother who gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

But this remake gives the concept a hi-tech update, making Chucky a "family product that will change the landscape of artificial intelligence".

Gabriel Bateman, Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke star in the film, which was produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith through their company KatzSmith Productions.

MGM subsidiary Orion Pictures will be releasing CHILD'S PLAY through their United Artists Releasing banner on June 21st. A new trailer is expected to drop this Thursday, April 18th.
