Hulu and J.J. Abrams Stephen King series CASTLE ROCK has just added John Hoogenakker to the recurring cast for Season 2. Hoogenakker will play a man with a complicated connection to MISERY's Annie Wilkes. Hoogenakker is perhaps best known for his role opposite John Krasinski (THE OFFICE, A QUIET PLACE) on Amazon's JACK RYAN series. But he is also known for roles in such projects as COLONY, BOSS, and THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE. I haven't seen ANY of those projects so this Hoogenakker fellow will be coming to my screen without judgment or expectations. Which is perfect for a horror TV series, right?
This news comes to us on the heels of the recent announcement that Garrett Hedlund (DEATH SENTENCE) has been replaced on this new season by Paul Sparks (House of Cards and Boardwalk Empire) in the role of John "Ace" Merrill (played by Kiefer Sutherland in STAND BY ME).
CASTLE ROCK Season 2 will bring us
A feud between warring clans that comes to a boil when budding psychopath Annie Wilkes (Caplan), Stephen King’s nurse from hell, gets waylaid in Castle Rock.
Lizzy Caplan will be playing the role of young Annie Wilkes along with Tim Robbins as Reginald “Pop” Merrill, Paul Sparks as John “Ace” Merril, Elsie Fisher as Annie’s home-schooled teenage daughter, Joy, Yusra Warsam is Dr. Nadia Omar, Barkhad Abdi will portray Abdi Omar, and finally, Alan plays Chris Merrill. Sam Shaw & Dustin Thomason continue to serve as executive producers along with J.J. Abrams, Ben Stephenson, Vince Calandra, Stephen King, and Liz Glotzer. The show hails from Bad Robot Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television.
