The most intriguing thing about the upcoming remake of the 1988 classic CHILD'S PLAY is the fact that Mark Hamill has been hired to provide the voice of the new version of killer doll Chucky. While the marketing department is keeping things pretty mysterious when it comes to this Chucky, we have gotten a couple samples of Hamill's vocal performance – a line here, a laugh there.

The latest promo released on the official CHILD'S PLAY Twitter account features the same line we've heard before, "Goodnight, Andy", then follows it up with an even better sample of Hamill's Chucky laugh.

Directed by Lars Klevberg from a script by Tyler Burton Smith, the new CHILD'S PLAY stars Gabriel Bateman, Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, and Carlease Burke in the story of

a mother (Plaza) who gives her son (Bateman) a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.

Rather than being a doll that's possessed by the soul of a serial killer, as he was in the original film and its six sequels, this Chucky is "an obsolete model of the bestselling Buddi doll with a glitch in his chip and the ability to control a vast network of interconnected devices."

The remake was produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith through their company KatzSmith Productions.

Original Chucky performer Brad Dourif and franchise writer Don Mancini opted not to have any involvement with the remake because they're working on a Chucky TV show that's a follow-up to the previous seven movies. That show is expected to begin airing on Syfy in 2020.

In the meantime, MGM subsidiary Orion Pictures will be releasing CHILD'S PLAY through their United Artists Releasing banner on June 21st.
