With just over two weeks left until the CHILD'S PLAY remake hits theatres, a clip from the film has arrived online to give us a preview of what it's like to be tormented by the new Chucky, "an obsolete model of the bestselling Buddi doll with a glitch in his chip and the ability to control a vast network of interconnected devices."
As Chucky plays a twisted game of "Peek-a-Boo" with our protagonist Andy (played by Gabriel Bateman this time around), we hear the killer doll's voice coming from various devices that its A.I. is able to tap into. This also means that we get to hear Mark Hamill's voice deliver several Chucky lines we haven't heard before.
It's not a bad scene, but I'm still not convinced I need to see this movie on the big screen.
Directed by Lars Klevberg from a screenplay by Tyler Burton Smith, the new CHILD'S PLAY has the same set-up as the original film:
A mother gives her son a toy doll for his birthday, unaware of its more sinister nature.
Bateman and Hamill are joined in the cast by Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry, Beatrice Kitsos, Ty Consiglio, Carlease Burke, and Tim Matheson.
Produced by David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith through their company KatzSmith Productions, the new CHILD'S PLAY is being released by MGM subsidiary Orion Pictures through their United Artists Releasing banner on June 21st.
