Netflix horror series Chambers has been cancelled after one season

I've been meaning to get around to watching the first season of Netflix's psychological horror series Chambers, and when I finally do I'll know not to look forward to a second season, because it's not going to exist. Netflix released a statement to let everyone know that they have cancelled the series:

Chambers will not return for a second season. We’re grateful to creator and showrunner Leah Rachel for bringing this story to us and to her fellow executive producers Alfonso Gomez Rejon, Steve Gaghan from Super Emotional, Winnie Kemp and Wolfgang Hammer from Super Deluxe, and Jennifer Yale. We’re also thankful to the tireless crew, and to our incredible cast, especially Uma Thurman, Tony Goldwyn and talented newcomer Sivan Alyra Rose."

The first and only season of Chambers centered on 

a young heart attack survivor who becomes consumed by the mystery surrounding the heart that saved her life. However, the closer she gets to uncovering the truth about her donor's sudden death, the more she starts taking on the characteristics of the deceased — some of which are troublingly sinister.

Uma Thurman, Tony Goldwyn, and Sivan Alyra Rose were joined in the cast by Lili Taylor, Lilliya Reid, Nicholas Galitzine, Kyanna Simone Simpson, Lilli Kay, Sarah Mezzanotte, and Griffin Powell-Arcand.

Series creator Leah Rachel once told The Wrap that, 

I think a Season 2 would still be dealing with identities and stuff. And Sasha has a force inside of her she didn’t ask for. But also, if we were lucky enough to get a Season 2, it’s the story of, ‘What do you do with a lot of power when you’ve only ever been powerless?'"

Unfortunately, we're not going to find out the answer to that question, and it sounds like the first season ended on a cliffhanger for a couple characters who were trapped somewhere when the last episode of season 1 came to an end. If you want to know how those characters get out of their predicament, I guess you'll have to come up with your own resolution.

The ten episodes of Chambers are available to watch on the Netflix streaming service if you want to risk becoming invested in a story that has come to a dead end.
