KNOCK, KNOCK and THE GREEN INFERNO star Lorenza Izzo has joined the cast of Showtime’s Penny Dreadful follow-up series Penny Dreadful: City of Angels in the recurring role of Santa Muerte, the Angel of Holy Death and sister of the charismatic demoness, Magda (Natalie Dormer).

On top of Izzo, the show has also rounded out its cast with the likes of Adam Rodriguez (CSI: MIAMI) as Raul Vega, Thomas Kretschmann (AVENGERS: AGE OF ULTRON) as Richard Goss, Dominic Sherwood (SHADOWHUNTERS) as Kretschmann's chauffeur, and bodyguard, and Ethan Peck (STAR TREK: DISCOVERY) as Herman Ackermann.

Michael Gladis (MAD MEN) was also just added as a series regular along with Daniel Zovatto and will play Councilman Charlton Townsend, the ambitious head of the L.A. City Council’s Transportation Committee; a man of killer instincts and ruthless political wiles.

This new series comes to us from the original series’ creator, writer and executive producer John Logan and is described as a spiritual descendant of the story set in Victorian-era London. This next chapter employs a new vision, new characters, and storylines. It opens in

1938 Los Angeles; a time and place deeply infused with social and political tension. When a grisly murder shocks the city, Detective Tiago Vega (Zovatto) is embroiled in an epic story that reflects the rich history of Los Angeles: from the building of the city’s first freeways and its deep traditions of Mexican-American folklore, to the dangerous espionage actions of the Third Reich and the rise of radio evangelism. Before long, Tiago and his family are grappling with powerful forces that threaten to tear them apart.

The series also stars Kerry Bishé, Adriana Barraza, Rory Kinnear, Jessica Garza, Johnathan Nieves, Nathan Lane, Amy Madigan, Brent Spiner, and Lin Shaye. Michael Aguilar also executive produces, along Logan and Sam Mendes, and Pippa Harris. James Bagley will serve as co-executive producer and Paco Cabezas is set to direct multiple episodes. Production on the drama series is expected to begin later this year.
