Several months ago, we heard that Denzel Washington would be starring in the Warner Bros. thriller THE LITTLE THINGS as
burned-out Kern County deputy sheriff named Deke, who teams with a crack LASD detective, Baxter, to reel in a wily serial killer. Deke’s nose for the “little things” proves eerily accurate, but his willingness to circumvent the rules embroils Baxter in a soul-shattering dilemma. Meanwhile, Deke must wrestle with a dark secret from his past.
Since then Washington's fellow Oscar winner Rami Malek has signed on to play the Baxter character. Now we may know who'll be playing the "wily serial killer" Washington and Malek will be trying to stop… and it's another Oscar winner.
Jared Leto is in early talks to join the cast of THE LITTLE THINGS, and if his deal goes through he will be taking on the role of the serial killer.
John Lee Hancock, director of Best Picture nominee THE BLIND SIDE, is writing and directing the film. Production is expected to begin this fall.
Washington and Malek make for one hell of a heroic duo, and Leto is definitely capable of playing a villain that we'll be rooting for them to thwart. With a group of collaborators like this, THE LITTLE THINGS is sounding like it's going to be something special.
