Parasite Bong Joon-ho

After watching the trailer for THE HOST director Bong Joon-ho's upcoming film PARASITE, I'm still not clear on what exactly is going on in this movie, and apparently that's a feeling that continues even while watching the film itself. The trailer features several positive review quotes, including one that says you'll think PARASITE is one type of movie, then it mutates into something else. Whatever it is, I'm intrigued to see it.

The official synopsis for PARASITE describes it as a "pitch-black modern fairytale". The story centers on

the Park Family, the picture of aspirational wealth. And the Kim Family, rich in street smarts but not much else. Be it chance or fate, these two houses are brought together and the Kims sense a golden opportunity. Masterminded by college-aged Ki-woo, the Kim children expediently install themselves as tutor and art therapist to the Parks. Soon, a symbiotic relationship forms between the two families. The Kims provide "indispensable" luxury services while the Parks give the Kims a way out of their shabby circumstances. But this new ecosystem is fragile, and soon enough greed and class prejudice threaten to upend the Kims' newfound comfort.

Joon-ho wrote the film with Han Jin-won. Song Kang-ho, Jang Hye-jin, Choi Woo-shik, Park So-dam, Lee Sun-kyun, Cho Yeo-jeong, Jung Ji-so, and Jung Hyun-joon star.

PARASITE is heading toward an October 11th theatrical release. Check out the trailer below and see if this looks like a movie you'd be interested in watching.
