Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Director Andy Muschietti's adaptation of Stephen King's IT: CHAPTER TWO hit movie theaters near you this Friday. And today we're hearing the movie has snagged a killer $91 million opening weekend tally. While this figure is less than the $123 million IT: CHAPTER ONE pulled in back in 2017, it's still the second-largest horror opening of all-time.

To break it all down a bit more in-depth, CHAPTER TWO snagged an audience that was 47% female with 67% 25 or older. And the film did receive a "B+" CinemaScore, which is the same as the original. Internationally, the film opened in 75 markets and delivered $94 million, debuting with the largest horror openings ever in 16 markets and an overall global opening of $185 million.

IT: CHAPTER TWO has snagged an R-rating via the MPAA for "disturbing violent content and bloody images throughout, pervasive language, and some crude sexual material." Here's the synopsis:

Twenty-seven years after the horrific events of the summer of 1989, It (Bill Skarsgård) returns. The Losers' Club fulfills their promises and returns to Derry to put an end to the shape-shifting beast once and for all.

Bill Skarsgård returns in the seminal role of Pennywise along with James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, Bill Hader, Isaiah Mustafa, Jay Ryan, James Ransone, and Andy Bean as the adult Loser's Club. Reprising their roles as the original members of the Losers Club are Jaeden Lieberher, Wyatt Oleff, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Chosen Jacobs, and Jack Dylan Grazer. Andy Muschietti directs from a screenplay by Gary Dauberman based on the novel by Stephen King. Barbara Muschietti, Dan Lin, and Roy Lee produce while Marty Ewing, Seth Grahame-Smith, and David Katzenberg are the executive producers. IT CHAPTER TWO is NOW PLAYING.
