Will Tyler Mane ever play Michael Myers in another Halloween movie?

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

Last week we passed along word that Rob Zombie has admitted that making his two HALLOWEEN films with the Weinsteins and Dimension was a "miserable experience." And today we have word from Zombie's Michael Myers, Tyler Mane that he doesn't think he will ever play the character again for anyone other than Rob Zombie.

Mane says:

I dare not say never, but probably not. It would be hard to…I see Michael as Rob did and to do it with a different director with a different vision would probably not have the same kind of outcome. I see him as an intense, gritty individual, and that’s the way he should be.

Ans since we're here, which HALLOWEEN film does he like better? Mane says:

I like ’em both for different reasons. You know, the first one showed the backstory and told the history of Michael Myers and how he’s a product of his environment, and the second one just goes deeper in the relationship between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers and how their lives intersect and how it affects them. So I like ’em both for different reasons.

Now I don't know about you but I love HALLOWEEN II. That first Rob Zombie HALLOWEEN, I dig here and there, but I thought HALLOWEEN II was a pure Rob Zombie film. For better or worse. Glad to know Mane also appreciates how the second one just goes deeper in the relationship between Laurie Strode and Michael Myers.

For those who might not know, Rob Zombie's HALLOWEEN began:

Nearly two decades after being committed to a mental institution for killing his stepfather and older sister, Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) breaks out, intent on returning to the town of Haddonfield, Ill. He arrives in his hometown on Halloween with the indomitable purpose of hunting down his younger sister, Laurie (Scout Taylor-Compton). The only thing standing between Michael and a Halloween night of bloody carnage is psychologist Dr. Samuel Loomis (Malcolm McDowell).

Rob Zombie wrote and directed HALLOWEEN (2007) based on the original classic written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill. Zombie also produced along with Malek Akkad and Andy Gould. It starred Malcolm McDowell, Sheri Moon Zombie, Tyler Mane, Scout Taylor-Compton, Brad Dourif, Danielle Harris, and William Forsythe. Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and The Weinstein Company unleashed the film into theaters back on August 31, 2007.
