Update: Exorcist series NOT returning with The Exorcist: The Next Chapter

UPDATE: Weak. It looks like showrunner Jeremy Slater has let the world know that the show's social media team were just "tidying up the old page" and there are "no discussions about bringing the show back." Harumph. Let's all just get back to our day then. Harumph.

Well, it looks like Fox's take on THE EXORCIST is coming back from the dead as today we've learned that the show's Facebook page with changed it's profile pic to a logo reading THE EXORCIST: THE NEXT CHAPTER 15 hours ago. Check it out below! No further details have been given at this time but we will make sure to keep on top of this news as it progresses and pass along further word as we hear it!

The modern take on William Peter Blatty’s classic novel is created by Jeremy Slater and followed this rundown:

Widely regarded as the greatest horror movie ever made, “The Exorcist” broke box office records and terrified audiences around the world. Now, more than four decades later, THE EXORCIST returns as a contemporary psychological TV thriller following two very different priests tackling one family’s case of terrifying demonic possession.

Opening an entirely new chapter in the iconic franchise, Season Two of The Exorcist finds Father Tomas Ortega (Alfonso Herrera) and a newly collarless Marcus Keane (Ben Daniels) out of Chicago and on the road, searching out evil. Across the Atlantic, Father Bennett (Kurt Egyiawan) attempts to weed out those within the Vatican who have turned against God. Ultimately, Tomas and Marcus are led to Andrew Kim (John Cho), a former child psychologist who runs a group home for five at-risk foster children on a secluded private island off the coast of Seattle. When one of the children under Andrew’s care is targeted by a powerful force, the two head west, setting themselves on a collision course with Hell.

The two seasons of the series starred Alfonso Herrera, Ben Daniels, Geena Davis, Brianne Howey, Hannah Kasulka, Kurt Egyiawan, and Alan Ruck along with Zuleikha Robinson, John Cho, and Brianna Hildebrand. You can buy Season One on DVD HERE and Season Two on DVD HERE.
