Raising Cain now streaming on Netflix

CARRIE and DRESSED TO KILL director Brian DePalma's insane 1992 psychological horror-thriller RAISING CAIN with John Lithgow (DEXTER), Lolita Davidovich (PLAY IT TO THE BONE), Steven Bauer (SCARFACE), and Gregg Henry (SLITHER) is now streaming over on Netflix.

I just gave the film a rewatch last night and found it to be MUCH more stylish, fun, and f*cking scary than I remembered. All the style one would hope for from DePalma in one of his killer satires. Plus you've got to respect Lithgow's completely unhinged performance(s). Got to love it!

The film – which should be rebooted as a TV series ASAP – centers on

a highly regarded child psychologist, Dr. Carter Nix (John Lithgow) has shown signs of being unstable, but he completely snaps when he discovers that his wife, Jenny (Lolita Davidovich), is having an affair. Nix's mental breakdown leads to the emergence of various other personalities, including a ruthless thug and a scared little boy. Nix's descent into madness involves murder, revenge and even the abduction of his own daughter, resulting in a suspenseful web of intrigue.

RAISING CAIN was written and directed by Brian De Palma and produced by Gale Anne Hurd. It starred John Lithgow, Lolita Davidovich, Steven Bauer, Frances Sternhagen, Tom Bower, Mel Harris, Teri Austin, and Gregg Henry. Universal Pictures released it back on August 7, 1992.

The film currently has a 57% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Raising Cain doesn't rank with Brian De Palma's best work, but John Lithgow's spellbinding split-personality performance makes this thriller hard to dismiss. STREAM IT HERE.
