Reactions to the Halloween Kills test screening were very positive

A week ago, we learned that the first test screening of director David Gordon Green's HALLOWEEN 1978 / HALLOWEEN 2018 sequel HALLOWEEN KILLS was about to be held somewhere in Los Angeles. The screening happened, and there are a bunch of lucky people out there who got to see the new HALLOWEEN movie well before its theatrical release. They're not allowed to spill details about the film, but it looks like that hasn't stopped some of them from sharing their positive reactions online. 

Of course, these reactions could be coming from attention-seeking trolls, so they have to be taken with a grain of salt. But if what these people are saying is true, it sounds like we have something special to look forward to in October.

Here's some of the things that are being said about HALLOWEEN KILLS, as compiled by the folks at DU-HD: 

1. The eerie blue lighting is back.

2. One major character returns. (Someone whose presence hasn't been announced yet.)

3. Michael Myers is ultra violent and brutal.

4. The flashback scenes are incredibly well done.

5. The movie is like Halloween on acid. It’s balls to the wall crazy.

6. The movie has some great callbacks to past Halloween films but remains original.

7. The mask used for the Halloween 78 flashback scenes is going to have fans going bonkers.

DU-HD's own source told them, 

The (1978) flashback sequence (it’s beefy, but never overstays its welcome – about seven-ten minues) genuinely impresses, adds to the original in a meaningful way while contextualizing its place in the H’18-Kills canon. It’s surprisingly emotional."

A reddit post that has been making the rounds said, 

1978 is back and I felt it every time the flashbacks happen – the tone, the feel, the music, even The Shape's attitude and movement, it's all there. As for present day, I don't think horror has felt more organic and emotional in my entire life."

We'll have to wait and see if that all pans out. HALLOWEEN KILLS will be reaching theatres on October 16th.

Directed by Green from a screenplay he wrote with Danny McBride and Scott Teems, the film stars Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode, Kyle Richards as Lindsey Wallace, Anthony Michael Hall as Tommy Doyle, Nancy Stephens as Nurse Marion, Robert Longstreet as Lonnie Elam, and Charles Cyphers as Leigh Brackett. All of them are characters whose lives were affected by Michael Myers in '78. Returning from HALLOWEEN 2018 are Judy Greer as Laurie's daughter Karen, Andi Matichak as Laurie's granddaughter Allyson, Dylan Arnold as Allyson's boyfriend / Lonnie's son Cameron, and Jibrail Nantambu as scene stealer Julian. One new addition is child actress Victoria Paige Watkins as a character named Christy. Original Michael Myers performer Nick Castle is also in the cast, possibly making another masked cameo like he did in HALLOWEEN 2018, and Myers is primarily being played by James Jude Courtney again.

Once work is finished on HALLOWEEN KILLS, Green will be heading into production on another sequel, HALLOWEEN ENDS. Written by Green, McBride, Paul Brad Logan, and Chris Bernier, that one is set for an October 15, 2021 release.

Malek Akkad is producing these films with Jason Blum and Bill Block. Green, McBride, and Curtis serve as executive producers alongside John Carpenter and Couper Samuelson. Carpenter will also be composing the score.
