The Witcher season 2 will be filming by the end of the month

Netflix is moving ahead with a second season of its awesome series The Witcher, which I gave an 8/10 review. Deadline reports that while the first season was filmed in Hungary, Poland, and Spain, production on season 2 will take place in the UK, Scotland, and parts of Eastern Europe. The site hears that the crew is currently getting things set up for filming at Arborfield Studios, 40 miles outside of London.

And they also hear that filming is set to begin sometime this month.

Inspired by a series of novels written by Andrzej Sapkowski and developed for Netflix by showrunner/executive producer Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, The Witcher is 

an epic tale of fate and family. Geralt of Rivia, a solitary monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts. But when destiny hurtles him toward a powerful sorceress, and a young princess with a dangerous secret, the three must learn to navigate the increasingly volatile Continent together.

Henry Cavill plays Geralt and will be back for season 2, along with fellow returning stars Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan, reprising the roles of Yennefer and Ciri.

Joining them in the cast is teenage actress Carmel Laniado (pictured below in the recently released DOLITTLE), who will be appearing in at least three episodes as a character named Violet, "a young girl whose playful and whimsical demeanor is a front for a smarter and more sadistic character."

We'll keep you updated on the progress of The Witcher season 2 as it heads into production. The season is expected to be released on the Netflix streaming service sometime in 2021, so if you haven't watched the eight episode first season yet there's plenty of time to catch up on it.
