The Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling, or G.L.O.W. for short, are making a comeback.

With ORANGE IS THE NEW BLACK creator Jenji Kohan exec-producing, GLOW, based on the 80s women wrestling promotion, has been ordered straight to series by Netflix. The 10-episode comedy will be set in Los Angeles and follow an out-of-work actress who takes one last shot of living her dream by landing a role in the weekly series about female wrestlers. HOMELAND's Liz Flahive and OITNB's Carly Mensch co-created the series and will operate as showrunners of the half-hour episodes.

The actual Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling were most certainly a product of their time, fitting right into an era of the industry that was populated by extremely over the top characters and personalities. While they never reached the popularity of the WWF (now WWE) or WCW, G.L.O.W. was able to find its niche in syndication, running for 104 total episodes between 1986 and 1990.

Women's wrestling certainly has come a long way since then, but this series has some potential to capture the spirit of a really fun time.
