57 Seconds: Morgan Freeman, Josh Hutcherson to star in tech thriller

Everyone knows that time is a precious commodity. There’s never enough of it when you need it, and it doesn’t move fast enough when anticipation is all-consuming. What if I told you there was a way to borrow time from the universe? That’s where Rusty Cundieff’s tech thriller 57 Seconds comes into play, and he has Morgan Freeman in tow.

Starring Freeman (Lean on Me, The Shawshank Redemption) and Josh Hutcherson (The Hunger Games franchise, Ultraman), 57 Seconds follows a tech blogger (Hutcherson) who scores a career-defining interview with a visionary technology guru (Freeman). After foiling an attack against the celebrated technophile, the blogger picks up a mysterious ring that allows the person who wears it to travel 57 seconds into the past.

When you stop and think about it, you can do a lot with 57 seconds. You could prevent a disaster, make vital changes to an undesirable outcome, or correct a simple mistake before all is lost. The possibilities are endless.

Cundieff’s 57 Seconds tech thriller has a screenplay written by Macon Blair (I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore) and is based on a story by British author E.C. Tubbs. Principal photography is set to begin in April on location in Louisiana.

What would you do with a ring that permits you a 57-second reprieve? What do you think the cost is for using this time-bending device? Will Hutcherson’s character abuse this ability? I’m curious to find out and look forward to seeing a trailer when it arrives.
