5-minute clip of Guardians of the Galaxy plus James Gunn talks IMAX and Hulk

For those of you looking forward to GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY, we have all sorts of goodies for you today! First up is an extended 5-minute look at the film that evidently aired on the USA network and has made it’s way online. For those of you who had a chance to check out 17 minutes of the film in IMAX, you’ll recognize all of the footage as it deals with the introduction to the characters as well as their prison. The prison break is all but absent, but it’s still the best look you’ll get at the characters before the film is released.

Take a look at the extended preview here:

Next up is a short video with some words by the director himself, Mr. James Gunn. He goes on to say that they went over every frame of the film and optimized it for IMAX theaters. It is important to note that no scenes were shot with the legit IMAX cameras (at least that I saw), so you won’t get the DARK KNIGHT/MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: GHOST PROTOCOL experience, but it’s certainly no slouch in the visual department. Just make sure to get there early for some good seats!

Here’s what James Gunn has to say about IMAX:

Finally, there have been rumors swirling around about Planet Hulk for some time now, despite Kevin Feige and Mark Ruffalo debunking them, and now those rumors involve Hulk teaming up with the Guardians in the sequel. Does it sound like the work of fanboys gone made? Definitely, and Gunn had a few things to say questioning the validity of those rumors.

Gunn in regards to the Hulk catching up with the Guardians in a sequel:

I can answer that question very easily: it is absolute, 100% bullshit. It feels like a great relief to finally say this after all the dumb stuff on the Internet. There’s not going to be a Planet Hulk movie, there was never going to be a Planet Hulk movie, there was never a plan for the Hulk to team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy – I wouldn’t want the Hulk to team up with the Guardians of the Galaxy! And it’s all a bunch of complete bullshit.

There ya have it! That should put those Planet Hulk rumors to bed (until next month, anyway). I would love to see the Guardians team up with the Avengers in their third movie, but I’m getting ahead of myself. August 1st is right around the corner and I’m about as excited as can be to see Marvel’s latest entry.

GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY finally arrives on August 1, 2014.
