26-part horror anthology ABC’s Of Death gets VOD & theatrical release dates

Last Updated on July 23, 2021

It must be anthology week around these parts. Not only did I personally clock a pair of such horror flicks last night (TALES THAT WITNESS MADNESS, SCREAMTIME…not that you care), we’re also devoting a Horror Ten Spot to the subject later this week. Of course, all this is inspired by V/H/S, poised to enter theaters this Friday. But that’s just the beginning…

Y’all remember the horror anthology ABC’S OF DEATH, in which a different letter of the alphabet is represented in a horror short from a different director. Sure you do. Well, Magnet Releasing is not only teasing the flick in front of the aforementioned V/H/S (“D is for Dogfight” in select theaters), official release dates for the flick were given. Jot this shite down: ABC’S OF DEATH will debut On Demand everywhere on January 31, 2013, and in theaters on March 8th.

Inspired by children’s educational books, the feature is comprised of 26 individual chapters, each helmed by a different director assigned a letter of the alphabet. The directors were given free rein to choose a word to represent a form of death based on their letter.

This will be a celebration of death in all its forms. From the shocking and exotic through to the banal and droll. The spectrum of cause will run from the accidental through to murder most foul. It is up to each director to interpret the letter (word) they are assigned.

The directors: Kaare Andrews, Angela Bettis, Ernesto Diaz Espinoza, Jason Eisener, Bruno Forzani & Héléne Cattet, Adrian Garcia Bogliano, Jorge Michel Grau, Noburo Iguchi, Thomas Malling, Anders Morgenthaler, Lee Hardcastle, Yoshihrio Nishimura, Banjong Pisathanakun, Simon Rumley, Marcel Sarmiento, Jon Schnepp, Srdjan Spasojevic, Timo Tjahjanto, Andrew Traucki, Nacho Vigalondo, Jake West, Ti West, Ben Wheatley, Adam Wingard and Yudai Yamaguchi.
