2019 Razzie nominations skewer the Trump Administration, Holmes & Watson

Nominations for the 39th annual Razzie Awards have been announced, and it looks as if sleuths, shysters, and salacious puppets are up for consideration. Leading the pack of this year's "worst of the worst" are Etan Cohen's HOLMES & WATSON and John Travolta's GOTTI, each with six nominations. Additionally, the Razzies look to be getting a bit political this year, as Donald Trump, who appears as himself in Dinesh D'Souza and Bruce Schooley's DEATH OF A NATION documentary, as well as controversial filmmaker Michael Moore's FAHRENHEIT 11/9, has earned himself a Worst Actor nod. While remaining aboard the Trump Train, the Razzies also placed Trump in the Worst Screen Combo category, listing the President's "self perpetuating pettiness" as his co-star. Not to be left out of the mix, Melania Trump was also chosen for the Worst Supporting Actress list, alongside Kellyanne Conway of the Trump Administration.

For those of you who're finding yourselves a bit put-off by the political leanings of this year's selection, you'll be thrilled to know that plenty of other "losers" were selected as a part of this year's ceremony.

Personally, I think this year's selection is a bit too ho-hum for my tastes. I mean, where's the fun in seeing the same batch of films and/or actors nominated in damn near every category? Have I forgotten how to have fun with the Razzies, or is this year's selection just another gasping breath for a terminal awards tradition? Let us know what you think of this year's Razzies in the comments section below.
