The New York City Horror Film Festival (NYCHFF) has just released it’s line up of films, both short and feature, and if you’re in the area then this is the place to go!
The 2010 NYCHFF takes place November 9 thru 14, 2010 at the Tribeca Cinemas, located at 54 Varick Street at Canal Street. The Festival’s Opening Night Gala will take place this year at Soirée (199 Bowery at Spring Street) on November 10 at 8:00pm. The gala is open to the public and will feature live performances, short films, complimentary cocktails, and more.
Here are the nine feature presentations that will be shown. Click on some of the films for more info:
DON’T GO IN THE WOODS, YELLOWBRICKROAD, BEREAVEMENT, THE PACK, OUTCAST, TICKED OFF TRANNIES WITH KNIVES, KISS THE ABYSS, WON TON BABY, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET (Followed by a Robert Englund appreciation ceremony)
You can check out the rest of the line up for short films here!
While this season has not be especially kind to horror, the film festivals, however, are rock solid kick ass…I hear. While I’m not (and about 80% of you) able to make the cons and the fests out there it’s always good to hear great things coming out from them. With Hollywood failing us with remakes and incessant sequels, festivals are a breather away from the bleak future that might be horror someday.
Shorts and spec scripts enter, deals and releases leave. That’s how it usually runs and while not many do make it pass a limited screening there are about a hundred more things happening there too. Take this for example: Robert Englund, most notable for his Freddy Krueger portrayal, will receive a lifetime achievement award at the NYC Horror Film Festival and I say it’s about damn time! Check out the short release below:
Lifetime Achievement Award Presentation to Actor/Director Robert Englund: In the dreams of his victims, a spectral child murderer stalks the children of the members of the lynch mob that killed him. A print of this film will screen as part of the Lifetime achievement program dedicated to Actor /Director Robert Englund.
There’s still a chance to purchase tickets and grab a pricey plane ride over to NYC but for the rest of us we’ll just have to settle with AITH. Swing by the site here for more information and check back with us regularly for more updates!
I wonder if this lovely gal will present Englund’s award.
