Taylor Sheridan is currently enjoying a great partnership with Paramount+. The writer/director has given the streaming platform a major hit with Yellowstone, which has now sprouted a couple of spin-off prequels in the form of tried-and-true westerns with the television series 1883 and 1923. After 1923 already broke records being the most-watched Paramount+ premiere ever with over 7 million viewers, the company would now announce that the Harrison Ford/Helen Mirren vehicle will be returning for a second season.
In a press release, the studio also prepares the audience for the continuation of the first season, “Returning this Sunday, Feb. 5th, with a new episode, the first season of 1923 introduces a new generation of Duttons led by patriarch Jacob (Ford) and matriarch Cara (Mirren). The series explores the early twentieth century when pandemics, historic drought, and the end of Prohibition all plague the mountain west, and the Duttons who call it home.”
Season one of 1923, the next installment of the Dutton family origin story, also stars Brandon Sklenar as the nephew of Jacob, Darren Mann, Michelle Randolph, James Badge Dale, Marley Shelton, Brian Geraghty, Aminah Nieves, Jerome Flynn, and Julia Schlaepfer. The series is produced by MTV Entertainment Studios, 101 Studios, and Bosque Ranch Productions. 1923 is executive produced by Yellowstone co-creator Taylor Sheridan, David C. Glasser, John Linson, Art Linson, Ron Burkle, David Hutkin, Bob Yari, and Ben Richardson.
In addition to the Yellowstone saga, Sheridan continues to churn out hit-after-hit with acclaim-after-acclaim as he provides a large slate of original scripted programming, which includes the Sylvester Stallone mob show, Tulsa King, Jeremy Renner’s Mayor of Kingstown, the upcoming Dennis Quaid show Bass Reeves, the upcoming Nicole Kidman show, Lioness, as well as the upcoming Land Man. Paramount+ will also be releasing a documentary on how Sheridan seems to never sleep. Ok, that one isn’t real. However, it’s mighty impressive to see the output of content coming from Sheridan in such a compressed amount of time.
1923 continues to air new episodes weekly starting this Sunday, Feb. 5th, Exclusively on Paramount+
