I don’t think there’s much more needed to sell viewers on THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY, but the studio may feel differently as they’ve released this massive 13-minute making-of featurette that features a ton of new footage interspersed with interviews and behind-the-scenes shots. Short of seeing the movie, I don’t think you can get much more promotion than this. It’s a cool piece and really takes you inside the film, but for those looking to go in fresh I’d steer clear.
Reviews for the film have been mixed-to-good thus far with the chief complaints being that it’s a little self-indulgent and overly long. The 48fps definitely isn’t winning hearts and minds, either, but that’s kind of been expected since it was first screened last August. However, there is a definitive buzz around this film, and rightfully so, as it will no doubt reinvigorate the uber fans of Peter Jackson‘s Middle Earth saga.
Have a look:
We also have our first official glimpse of Orlando Bloom back in his Elvish duds as Legolas and Luke Evans as Bard. The pic is reportedly from the third film in THE HOBBIT series, so it’s curious that the shot has been released so soon. Still, we’ll take it.
What’s the Elvish word for “sweeeet”:
THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY is set to debut on December 14, 2012, with THE HOBBIT: THE DESOLATION OF SMAUG following on December 13, 2013 and, lastly, THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN bowing on July 18, 2014.
