Watchmen case ends!

You can finally rest easy, fans of Alan Moore, Rorschach and Silk Spectre II. You’ll get your movie on the original intended 3.6.09 release date — the tiresome ongoing saga of litigation surrounding the live-action WATCHMEN has finally come to an end.

Warner Bros. (who were apparently under the impression they had every right to make a movie based on the seminal graphic novel, and thus did so) and Fox (who apparently had the actual legal right, thanks to some musty old documents), have holstered their metaphorical sixguns and arrived at an agreement.

The case will be dismissed, and while details won’t be disclosed, it (unsurprisingly) involves WB giving “a sizable cash payment to Fox and a percentage of the film’s boxoffice”. Zack Snyder’s superhero conspiracy tale already cost the studio $130 million, so expect even more promotion from Warner Bros. in the next month to draw more humans to theaters. Pockets to fill! Hurm.
