Usual suspects back! Mar. 14, 2007
Source: Variety   by: Mike Sampson

Bryan Singer and writer Christopher McQuarrie have signed on to work on their first film together since THE USUAL SUSPECTS. The two have been quietly working on a thriller over the past few months and brought it to Tom Cruise who immediately snatched up rights to the film for United Artists, the studio he's running with partner Paula Wagner. Not much is known about the film other than its a WWII thriller that is similar to USUAL SUSPECTS. Singer will make the film his next assignment pushing back Warner Bros.' plans for a sequel to SUPERMAN RETURNS (which they still like totally swear they still want to do). Singer's film will be the second project set up at Cruise's UA after the upcoming Robert Redford film LIONS FOR LAMBS (in which Cruise is also starring). Of the project Singer said, "It's a period in history that has always fascinated me, and we found a very interesting story that materialized into a pretty wonderful script." Singer is also producing the horror flick TRICK 'R TREAT, directing the ABC pilot "Football Wives" and writing/directing the upcoming X-MEN 0 for Fox. OK, I'm just kidding about that last part. But wouldn't that be great?

Extra Tidbit: Singer serves as Executive Producer of the popular Fox medical series "House."

NICE
I was just wondering to myself the other day... Does ol Christopher McQuarrie have any projects in the works? And he does... yay.
But honestly... if you are the team of Singer and McQuarrie and you just put together an idea for a movie... would you really be thinking, "Sweet... let's go run and tell Tom Cruise"? I mean honestly... what the hell?

X-MEN
McQuarrie actually helped write X-men. But he chose to remove his name from the writing credits... Can't remember why...
Anyhooo. This is great news... How cool would it be, if Singer got Ian McKellen as a nazi again... And maybe go a little 'The Believer' with the shit and also make McKellen a Jew... Oooo, and gay :-)

Sweeet...I've been wondering when McQuarrie and Singer would reunite...The Usual Suspects is my favorite movie and the one that got me into film in the first place so this just shot up to near the top of my most anticipated list...

I have to agree that he does in fact look like a gay spanish dude.

This sucks though. I am probably one of the 2 people who visit this site who actually liked Superman. I wish he would wait, make the superman film, then do his WW2 movie.

Real mature Jepp.

Yes, he's gay. But not Spanish.

This sounds awesome, I'm glad they are reuniting.

Is it me or does Singer look like a gay spanish dude in that picture? Anyways I 'd rather see the SUPERMAN sequel get underway, I was kinda pumped for that. I'm sure that this new project will be good though....so.... whatever.

Im glad to see McQuarrie actually doing something. I loved Way of the Gun and Usual Suspects, then he fell off the face of the earth.
