My 10 Favourite Indiana Jones Moments

Welcome to Indiana Jones week on JoBlo.com. I haven't been this excited since I saw Thomas Jane almost kill a guy at Comic Con last year. I'm sitting in my office right now with nothing on but a fedora and a worn out man-purse. I'm typing this story from ten feet away with a bullwhip. That last sentence took 3 days. Quite simply, I believe Henry Jones Jr. is the greatest character ever created and that RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK is filmmaking perfection. Without either I wouldn't be writing for this site....... naked. Excuse me while I geek-out.

5. Young Indy - THE LAST CRUSADE

A little cheesy but a lot of fun. Not only do we get to watch the late and great River Phoenix work some magic (literally), we also find out why Indy hates snakes, where that scar on his chin came from, how he learned to use a whip, and where his overall image originated from. I like to believe all this shit didn't happen in the span of five minutes but hey, movies can only be so long.

4. Marion - RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK

Let's slow things down with a little bit of lovin' from Indy's most important lady friend. Harrison Ford is brilliant in this scene, from getting clocked with mirror to telling Marion (Karen Allen) his elbow hurts, and then finally falling asleep just as things start to steam up.

3. The Mine Carts - TEMPLE OF DOOM

This scene blew my mind when I was a kid. You don't know how many times I almost killed myself firing around the supermarket parking lot in a shopping cart trying to relive this shit. I don't care if you can tell they're puppets most of the time. I don't care if Willie ends up saving the day. I don't care how ridiculous that track jumping moment is. This is quality entertainment.

2. Nice Sword - RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK

What has easily become Indy's most famous moment is more than just cheap laughs. It's common sense. Like I said earlier, the guy just does whatever we would do and it's moments like this that make him the hero of the every day man. Always shoot the man with the giant sword. Dr. Jones is always teaching.

1. The Truck - RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK

Rarely does a movie make me sit on the edge of my seat, literally. I love how Indy gets back into the cab of the truck and punishes the driver the exact same way that was done to him. I love the little nudge to the motorcycle and the smirk that follows. The music is flawless, the action is non-stop, the Wilhelm scream is in the house, and Indy triumphs in the end. There's nothing else better in the world. Get your ass to the theater this weekend. You owe him.

WHOA THERE, DEADSHOT.
That's the FLAWLESS, 10 year old, D-Day action sequence in Saving Private Ryan you're dissing.

But The Truck scene in Raiders is indeed, perfect.

RIGHT FUCKING ON
PERFECT #1. That is my favorite scene from my favorite film. The truck chase... is just brilliant. I don't think that Spielberg has ever crafted a more perfect action sequence, before or since. Right on.

Honestly, I cannot pick a Top Ten out of these movies. I love the bar scene in Nepal, the fistfight with the Nazi, SNAKES(!), when he and Short Round are about to get squashed, the conveyor belt, the burning library, his dad manning the machine-gun, and the list goes on. He is indeed one of - if not the - greatest characters ever to appear on the silver screen.

AWESOME
I totally agree with not only the list but the comment at the end. We owe him, we owe all of them Lucas, Spielberg, Ford. They gave us quality entertainment with all 3 movies and we should honor that by giving them a HUGE opening!!!

SWEET LIST
Great List and I agree on #1. Extra Tidbit: Harrison Ford actually did a lot (not all, if memory serves) of the stunt work on that scene.

Wow, Marion gets number 4 ahead of the fertility idol? AHEAD of the fertility idol!? That's crazy talk. Anyways, good list and I'm perfectly fine with the top 2 spots, but how does face melting not make the top 10 at all. That shit was downright gruesome and I always liked telling people that they got away with that in a PG movie at the time. PG! Anyways, way too many great scenes to mention in the Indiana Jones films, so I'm surprised we didnt get a "Top 15" like some other lists get. Also, another good scene is the path to the holy grail in Last Crusade. Plus, ya get a kind of "face melter" scene with the dude getting old mad fast and biting the big one. O.k. O.k., I'm seriously stoked for the next Indy adventure, and hopefully a few scenes from it will earn their place in this list.

This top 10 is nearly perfect. I only wished to have seen the face melting and heart ripping make it in too but i'm not picky. Love the top 3.
