The Fall poster

Behold, ladies and gentlemen, Tarsem! Or at least a poster for Tarsem’s film, THE FALL. If you’ve seen Tarsem’s first film, THE CELL, you can’t doubt the man’s visual panache. The images he puts on screen are stunning. But can he tell a story, or are his films simply canvases for him to paint abstractions on? The film is about a hospitalized man who befriends a fellow patient, and tells the young girl tales of far-off lands. Though the film is just now getting a theatrical release here, it screened at the Toronto Film Festival in 2008 and Roger Ebert thought it to be magnificent. Also, you’ll notice Spike Jonze and David Fincher, two guys whose movies you might like a little, are presenting it to us. I think they were disappointed that no one saw this movie when it was made two years ago, and decided to attach their names to it for that extra little push. Will it work for you?
