Natalie Portman, one of the most accomplished actresses in Hollywood (and unquestionably one of the hottest) is keen on adding “director” to her growing list of achievements. That’s right, schmoes and schmoettes, our very own Matilda has growns up to the point where she’s eager to take command of an entire film production. She wants to direct an adaptation of Israeli writer Amos Oz’ critically acclaimed autobiography “A Tale of Love and Darkness”. Jerusalem Capital Studios, who own the rights to the novel, have met with Portman and discussed not only her directing the film but also her starring in it. The story centers on Oz’ upbringing in Jerusalem amidst fighting and civil unrest. If Portman were to star, she’d play Oz’ mother. Before we see how adept she is at directing, however, we can next see her in the period drama GOYA’S GHOST, the children’s fantasy dramedy MR. MAGORIUM’S WONDER EMPORIUM, Wong Kar-Wai’s road trip drama MY BLUEBERRY NIGHTS and THE OTHER BOLEYN GIRL, another period drama.
