Octopus first look May. 12, 2008
Source: JoBlo.com
by: Omar Aviles

If you missed the pics of Sam Jackson's fruity attire as the villainous Octopus in the Frank Miller directed, comic adapted THE SPIRIT, here's a brand spanking new one courtesy of Comic Con magazine that schmoe Daniel was cool enough to send our way. Not sure if it's as fruity as the previous pics but at least he has a "tough guy" scar on his face (or is it a tat?). In it, Gabriel Macht stars as a resurrected cop who becomes the titular hero and scores some premium snatch in the form of Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes, Jaime King and Paz Vega. It opens Christmas Day.

THE SPRIT, Sam Jackson

Extra Tidbit: Will Eisner, creator of "The Spirit" comic book, preferred the term "sequential art".

I read "Octopus" and my mind went to Octopussy and I expected James Bond. Thanks for the brief boner. It's like hiding a picture of a naked old lady inside of a porno mag and giving it to someone, so they're rock-hard throughout the entire magazine until they hit that old lady.

ANOTHER OVERRATED FILMMAKER.
The only thing more shocking than Frank Miller getting to make movies is Frank Miller making a dime on the "Sin City" graphic novels. I left "Sin City" after the first 15 minutes because the writing was so god-awful horrible I couldn't bear to hear another syllable uttered. As for "300," I can't watch more than 30 seconds of that hideous train wreck without changing the channel. "The Dark Knight Returns" was a decent enough graphic novel (though not nearly as interesting as "The Killing Joke") but his contribution to cinema is about as qualitative as the Wachowski's recent "Speed Racer" crash and burn.

Now I'm a big fan, but come on...uber cool comic black guy doesn't always have to equal Sam Jackson.

SAM L JACKSON
Looks like he came out of the Zoolander film, I had seen this pic before, but it was all green-screen backround allong with some other Spirit pics, I have to see more in order to decide if I want to see this flick or not.
