New Indy 4 pics!! Jan. 2, 2008
Source: Vanity Fair
by: Mike Sampson

You knew it was coming eventually, but I didn't think we'd be getting it this soon. It's the INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL issue of "Vanity Fair" complete with interviews with all the major players and photos by the legendary Annie Leibovitz. Vanity Fair has put a preview online, which includes our first look of Cate Blanchett as the villainous Agent Spalko. We also get a behind-the-scenes video from the photoshoot, which you can see below. Of course, this is just a small taste of what you can expect from the actual issue itself, which should be on newsstands soon. Check it out below and head to Vanity Fair to read the whole article.

Extra Tidbit: In the article George Lucas says of the fans: "[They] are all upset. They’re always going to be upset...They write their own movie, and then, if you don’t do their movie, they get upset about it."

MOST ANTICIPATED FILM OF THE YEAR!!
I absolutely LOVE the picture with Spielberg, Ford, and Lucas together!! And the one with Shia and Karen Allen (Ark of the Covenant anyone?)

Cate Blanchett looks great, but where the hell is Ray Winstone??

Anyway, I also agree with Lucas. Despite his faults, he's absolutely right.

Damn I cannot wait for this movie!!

I agree with Lucas in this quote not all fans will be satisfied. So people should stop complaining about everything a director does.

THIS IS SPIELBERG, NOT LUCAS.
As long as Spielberg remains in control then I'm happy. Lucas doesn't even matter to me (even before the prequels).

These pics look cool as hell, and this movie is going to kick 2008's ass.

I think it all looks fantastic. I love how they are evolving with the fifties. Instead of 30's republic serials now they are venturing into the B-films of the fifties, namely sci-fi pictures like The Thing from Outer Space and The Blob. I don't see the big hoopla with the interviews, they are being honest. Every director/Producer/Writer thinks this way, most of them won't talk about it publicly. These guys do. I'll take Indy over any adventure action film that has come out in the past few years any day.

That's one of the most immature quotes I've seen from a director since Eli Roth's "fuck the internet" tirade. Lucas is literally a multi-fucking millionaire because of his fans and gets upset because his fans turned on him after he decided to phone in an entire trilogy. If Lucas had actually written this or did anything but ponied up the dough I'd probably be staying far away. Lucas made one great movie thirty years ago, which was then followed up by far superior filmmakers take on his saga, 14 years later Lucas decided it was time to write and direct again and churned out one of the biggest disappoinments in cinema history, but his movies still made bank and he still got ridiculously rich... And then the fucking guy has the audacity to bitch about his fans? Just wow.

Lucas sure comes off as a jerkwad in that quote. Here's to hoping that a 65 year old Indiana Jones can ... oh forget it. Sixty Five? Wow...that's a zap of reality.

I agree with nodirectionhome. We end up getting crap. They know it'll make money, so they don't care what the fans think. It shows that even the best moviemakers can be deluged into thinking that whatever they do is gold.

nodirectionhome on Jan 2 2008, 1:07:48 PM writes:

If the quote above by Lucas is true; then fuck him. People have an expectation that was set by the director; anything short of that for the sake of duping your audience into accepting mediocre product ala Phantom Menace is what irritates fans, you douche ! Because thats all it is now, a mere product. Not a film. And we're foolish enough to buy it.

WOW!!!
Just awesome. Cate has a totally different look than what I was thinking her look would be. Also, love the background music on the video, very moody and ancient.

This movie is looking better everyday. I will still hold judgement until the final product though, I still think there might be too many characters.
