Your future Mary Jane Watson, Shailene Woodley is close to getting a role in Divergent

Shailene Woodley is certainly finding her way in Hollywood. She went from THE SECRET LIFE OF THE AMERICAN TEENAGER to THE DESCENDANTS to a role as the fiery redhead, Mary Jane Watson in THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN sequel. Good for her, I say.

Now it looks like she is soon to land a role as the lead in the adaptation of Veronica Roth’s novel, DIVERGENT.

Neil Burger will direct the film, which is being dubbed “the next HUNGER GAMES”. Is that the new trend? Vampires. Werewolves. Futuristic dystopias with teens put in violent situations.

The film takes place in, “a futuristic dystopia where society is divided into factions based on human traits. A 16-year-old leaves her faction to join a rival one, but during the violent initiation she falls in love with a young man and they try to find their place in this rough world.”

Evan Daugherty (SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN) adapted the screenplay.
