Weekend Box Office Report: Spider-Man: Far from Home sticks to the top!

Another week in first for Spidey sequel!

Peter Parker's European vacation remained the biggest draw for moviegoers this weekend and kept SPIDER-MAN: FAR FROM HOME in first place with an estimated $45.3 million!

The second solo entry for Marvel's teen web-slinger dropped by 51% from last weekend's take, a fairly average hold for the studio's 23-movie superhero franchise and an improvement on the 62% second-week loss for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING (which continued on to a domestic total of $334 million).

The wall-crawler's post-Blip trip through Venice, Prague and London currently has a 13-day domestic total of $274.5 million since it opened on Tuesday July 2nd, placing it ahead of the $259 million domestic finish of MCU sequel CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER.

Director Jon Watts' PG-13 sequel also has a worldwide total of $847 million to leap over the final totals for nearly all of the comic-book character's previous main-title appearances, with only the global finishes for SPIDER-MAN: HOMECOMING ($880 million) and Sam Raimi's SPIDER-MAN 3 ($890 million) ahead of it.

Though the $160 million adventure is distributed by Sony rather than Disney, the latest chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (and actor Tom Holland's fifth time in costume) has landed right in the middle of the MCU's worldwide totals, ahead of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY ($773 million) and just behind THOR: RAGNAROK ($854 million).

Pixar's TOY STORY 4 remained in second place with $20.6 million for a domestic total of $346.3 million after four weekends. The G-rated sequel with Woody, Buzz Lightyear and all their plastic/plush playmates has a worldwide total of $771 million on a reported $200 million cost.

Opening in third place was the new R-rated horror movie CRAWL with $12 million for the weekend.

Directed by Alexandre Aja (THE HILLS HAVE EYES, PIRANHA 3D) and produced by Sam Raimi, the disaster thriller with hungry aligators gnawing on Florida humans during a hurricane made an additional $4.8 million overseas for a worldwide total of $16.8 million, on a reported cost of $13.5 million.

Critics gave the water-logged terror a surprisingly high grade for a horror release, with the scaly invaders earning an 88% average on Rotten Tomatoes. Wade on over to the JoBlo review HERE.

In fourth place was the new R-rated action movie STUBER with an opening weekend of $8 million.

The "buddy cop" comedy, with LAPD detective Dave Bautista enlisting the unwilling assistance of Uber driver Kumail Nanjiani, made an extra $3 million internationally for a worldwide $11 million total (it cost a reported $16 million).

Critics didn't really seem to be along for the ride with the mismatched pair, giving the movie an average of 46% on Rotten Tomatoes. You can steer toward the JoBlo review HERE.

In fifth place was the musical comedy YESTERDAY with $6.7 million, which takes director Danny Boyle's PG-13 Beatles fantasy to a domestic total of $48.3 million and a worldwide total of $80.5 million on a reported $26 million cost.

The live-action remake of Disney's ALADDIN was still granting wishes in sixth place with $5.8 million as Will Smith's genie has worked his magic to $331.4 million domestic and $960.1 million worldwide (the PG-rated fantasy cost a reported $183 million).

In seventh place was R-rated horror movie ANNABELLE COMES HOME with $5.5 million on its third weekend. With a domestic total of $60.7 million and $173.6 million worldwide, the $30 million supernatural sequel is still bringing up the rear in THE CONJURING spinoff series.

Horror movie MIDSOMMAR was in eighth place with $3.5 million, scaring away 45% of business from its opening last weekend. HEREDITARY filmmaker Ari Aster's R-rated daytime torment of Florence Pugh and Jack Reynor has a 12-day domestic total of $18.4 million on a reported $10 million cost.

Closing out the list was animated animal sequel THE SECRET LIFE OF PETS 2 with $3.1 million as it nears $300 million worldwide, followed by the sputtering sci-fi comedy MEN IN BLACK INTERNATIONAL with $2.2 million.

Outside the chart, the Elton John biopic ROCKETMAN drifted off into space, and Marvel's AVENGERS: ENDGAME once again slipped out of the Top 10 as it pulls within just a few million bucks of AVATAR's record-holding $2.78 billion worldwide total.

In limited release, THE FAREWELL made a big impression with an $87k per-screen average (the PG-rated family comedy-drama featuring Awkwafina also currently holds a rare 100% average on Rotten Tomatoes), while the new R-rated dark comedy THE ART OF SELF-DEFENSE with Jesse Eisenberg was on the mat with a less remarkable $17k per-screen average.

Next weekend, Disney threatens to consume all competition (including itself) with director Jon Favreau's "live-action" remake of animated classic THE LION KING.
